In the last 5 years J.L. Lucas has successfully produced double disc grinders to grind bearing diameters well beyond the envelope of most suppliers.  Today’s wind energy requirements have challenged industry to produce much larger bearings to support demand for larger turbines. Our remanufactured Gardner SDG-5-42”grinders with specially designed tooling allow simultaneous grinding of opposed surfaces on  parts up to 1800mm in diameter. The special power rotating design has enabled us to grind 1 meter parts weighing 180kg.( 400lbs) to flat and parallel tolerances under 6 microns.
